This year Chicago NORML and the Midwest Hemp Coalition teamed up in advocation and celebration of hemp by founding the Illinois Hemp Grant Business Competition. The mission of for our collaboration is to provide hemp education to those unaware of the economic benefits within the hemp industry.

Both Chicago NORML and Midwest Hemp Coalition take pride in their efforts towards advocating for safe medicinal access to cannabis, cannabis rights, and educating their communities on the economic, political and health benefits cannabis brings.

Hemp is a vehicle that can be used to stimulate the economic growth in communities, especially disproportionately impacted areas. This collaborative effort with the Midwest Hemp Coalition and Chicago NORML is the perfect way to educate and promote the emerging industry of hemp.

The finalist and winner of the first Illinois Hemp Grant Business Competition was announced at the local sector’s virtual Zoom event Smokin’ Note on October 31st. Five finalists of a total of 16 applicants competed in a live Zoom pitch in front of judges Manny Mendoza, Tiffany Reynolds, Ryan Rapaport, and Andrew Farrior the day prior to the winner’s announcement.

In winning the IL Hemp Grant Competition, Rachel wins one year of legal services including legal document assistance, permits and application forms. A year of marketing services from AV Social Strategies valued at $1500. One year accounting services by Mueller, A certified public accountant, and one year of paid licensing fees. Rachel will also be featured in an article by HempToday, the leading global source for business information about the hemp industry.
